While this is a difficult book to read at some points if you have experienced any trauma, it is a good read and for a specific audience。

Absolutely terrible。 The writing is atrocious。

I had not read 50 shades due to bad publicity - but came across a set of the books and thought that I would read and make my own mind up。 Many of the reviews not liking the book were from men。 While the book covers S&M I found the book interesting and while erotic fiction is not my usual choice, it was a good romance story - and links to Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles。 I read Tess for English Literature and it was one of my favourite books, so much so I kept my copy。 Though now conside I had not read 50 shades due to bad publicity - but came across a set of the books and thought that I would read and make my own mind up。 Many of the reviews not liking the book were from men。 While the book covers S&M I found the book interesting and while erotic fiction is not my usual choice, it was a good romance story - and links to Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles。 I read Tess for English Literature and it was one of my favourite books, so much so I kept my copy。 Though now considered a major 19th-century English novel, even Hardy's fictional masterpiece, Tess of the d'Urbervilles received mixed reviews when it first appeared, in part because it challenged the sexual morals of late Victorian England。 I found that Fifty Shades is much the same。 It challenges peoples views of morality and raises issues that are otherwise hidden。 I loved the references to Tess, Angel and Alec throughout。 。。。more

I think this book is definitely better than the movie。 I totally stan the book Ana and Christain but I don't stan the movie A and C。 I finished this book in less than a week because it was so addicting。 I started the second one right away。 I think this book is definitely better than the movie。 I totally stan the book Ana and Christain but I don't stan the movie A and C。 I finished this book in less than a week because it was so addicting。 I started the second one right away。 。。。more

This is Twilight basically, just minus the wolves and vampires Ana is a horny girl who's main driving force is her hormones despite having gotten passed puberty。 She think she's "in love" with Christian despite being only in love with his body and her romanticisation of his past despite him being emotionally unavailable and sexually not fit for her。 But nope, it's got to be him Christian Grey is just a sad man with trauma as excuse for being bad and one sided as a characterThe only reason why I' This is Twilight basically, just minus the wolves and vampires Ana is a horny girl who's main driving force is her hormones despite having gotten passed puberty。 She think she's "in love" with Christian despite being only in love with his body and her romanticisation of his past despite him being emotionally unavailable and sexually not fit for her。 But nope, it's got to be him Christian Grey is just a sad man with trauma as excuse for being bad and one sided as a characterThe only reason why I'm rating it 2 stars is that the ending gave Ana some sense and Christian Grey an ending that should have made him reflect 。。。more

How does this girl have any lip left ? All she did was bite it one very page of the book lol。 I enjoyed some of the spicy scenes, but overall, I didn't think our main characters had any sort of chemistry。 The only thing inviting about Christian was his money。 If Christian Grey was "trailer trash" Derek next door, no one would be rooting for this couple。 They both dumb。 How does this girl have any lip left ? Yep, all the reviews about this story glorifying or normalizing abuse, neglect, manipulation, and generally unhealthy relationships… correct。 On top of that, the writing and plot are pretty mediocre。 Pile this onto “very poorly edited books。” The publisher should be embarrassed, but they’re too busy rolling around in their bags and bags of money in profits from this trash heap。

well well well, look who the kinky cat dragged in。 yes。。。。it's me - back from the dead。 or should i say back from the "Red Room of Pain"? i feel like that's a better description of where i've been since i just suffered through this hell hole of a book for the past 3 weeks。 i just couldn't bring myself to dnf yet another book。 i really forced this one down my throat and let me just say, it was just as terrible WORSE than i imagined it would be。 what can be said about this emotionally intelligent well well well, look who the kinky cat dragged in。 yes。。。。it's me - back from the dead。 or should i say back from the "Red Room of Pain"? oh i got it! maybe that it's an emotionally intelligent and beautifully well-written romance novel。 haha! good one marlena!there's a slight chance that i'm being unfair and cruel because i have a biochem exam tomorrow that i know will shit on me。 but let's be a bit more honest with ourselves here - this book is actually the worst and deserves all the shit i'm about to throw onto it like my exam will do to me tomorrow。here is a semi-comprehensive-but-not-really-cohesive list of my reasons for this solid 1 star rating: 1) dat plot development tho (or lack thereof)if someone put a gun to my head and asked me what the hell happened in this book, i would have to accept my death right then and there。 even though i just finished it, the plot was so nonexistent i couldn't begin to explain what actually happened。 if i had to describe it, it was basically a compliation of shitty sex scenes mixed with some other shitty non-sex scenes。 2) the ~~Love~~ connection (。。。。or lack thereof) i love my boyfriend and i'm always grateful that he's in my life。。。but this book really made me grateful because holy shit their chemistry was comparable to the chemistry between yellow tellytubby and the vaccum。 and that's saying a lot considering this is supposed to be a romance novel。 3) sex ugh。 it was just bad。 this book made me long for my mafia days because i can guarantee every book i read this past spring was 1 million times better than this one in the dick department and in every other department。 4) ana pissed me off more than my 9th grade math teacher and just for reference, he was my middle school bully。 fuck you mr。peariso 5) who wants to tell e。l james that they must've missed the writing workshop in 3rd grade where we learned about character development。。。。 i don't know what more to say about this。 she tried showing character development, but she failed miserably。 her biggest flaw is that she relied too heavily on "tell-don't-show", which obviously hindered any sort of genuine depiction of growth。 having a character say to themselves "i think i'm falling in love" is far far less meaningful than when the reader can see it happen with their own eyes。 6) the bad sex *cue russian accent* I spit at the Gophers who call Dis Trash Eroticah! *end russian accent* 7) i might not know much about bsmdsdm, but this sure as hell ain't it。 no wonder everyone says this book severely misconstructs what bdsm is supposed to entail。 i hardly know anything about it, but what little information i do know tells me that this book is very, very wrong and actual dom/sub relationships are nothing like this。 to be fair, you could make the argument that e。l james did this on purpose and wasn't trying necessarily to create a healthy depiction of bdsm。 in fact, there's very well a chance that she was trying to show how someone can use the veil of an established community to hide toxicity and abuse, thereby tainting the others who follow the accepted and appropriate norms。 but until someone proves to me that e。l james was trying to do this, i will simply continue to believe this is just a shitty book。 8) the ENDING made me LAUGH (and spoilers。。。i don't think it was supposed to。。。)this connects right to the complete and utter lack of character growth。 i think what really happened was there were big plans for the last 100 pages or so of the story, but then the editor shoved a stick up the author's ass and said "fucking finish it!" and then it was wrapped up in like 3 pages。 so yeah, i laughed when i reached the ending because it was the most ridiculous 'plot climax' i've ever read in a published novel。 9) i kept thinking about the fact that this was originally a twilight fanfic and that was the only thing that made this book semi-enjoyable to read。 and frankly i'm very ashamed of this fact。 10) the terrible sexthis deserved a third mention because out of all the downfalls, this was the most disappointing :,(alright, i'm done。 i can't talk about 50 shades anymore, i need to purge it from my mind。 i invested more effort into this book review than e。l james and their editor put into writing this fucking atrocity。p。s - sorry for all the anger。 i truly am going to get fucked by this exam tomorrow and i'm very on edge。 maybe it would help if edward christian ties me up on the bed, blinds me, and blasts opera music into my ears while he slaps me with a fishing pole。 。。。more

This my second reading book。 It was kind of intimidating to read and imagine about how Ana and Christian's love story changing perpetually and their active sex life made me feel dizzy while reading the book。 I managed to finish the book after reading for around 2 months。 It was great to see how Christian protected and gave Ana a perfect life that most girls would want to。 But the agreement about submissive was quite terrible。 And the end of the story staggered me because they just broke up after This my second reading book。 It was kind of intimidating to read and imagine about how Ana and Christian's love story changing perpetually and their active sex life made me feel dizzy while reading the book。 I managed to finish the book after reading for around 2 months。 It was great to see how Christian protected and gave Ana a perfect life that most girls would want to。 But the agreement about submissive was quite terrible。 And the end of the story staggered me because they just broke up after sadistic behavior of Christian。 Overall, the book is a masterpiece。 。。。more

Hello Google, what is the Guinness World Record for the book that has most thoroughly used a thesaurus? SMALL, TINY, fucking hell, even TEENY-FUCKING-WEENY would have fucking suffice! If this book was the end of the fucking tunnel, I'd turn around! I cannot believe I did this shit to myself。 I decided to do the audio while I did chores around the house, but fuck, man。 I had to fucking stop at 24% and it gets a HALF of a fucking star, fuck outta here。 The narrator was great, no problems with her。 But along with the greedy use of the thesaurus, and grammatical errors, the story, was, oh man, LMAO, it was bad。 It has miles to go before it reaches mediocre, but yet, it is a goddamn sensation! Holy shit, a friend compared another book as the author writing fuck all, nothing, but everyone had a hard on for the book and this is the fucking definition of nothing, but good for this author, I guess, she's getting that fucking $$$$ on total shit。 I'm thinking dark romance readers, should stay far the fuck away from this fucking series, cuz there's a joke in here, there fucking has to be one and I missed it completely。 。。。more
